Tuesday Update

Hello!

Today was another eventful and successful day with our projects of painting, cleaning the streets and passing out hygiene kits, and leading our second day of VBS. Click here for day 5 photos. Two teams went to Homegirl Cafe and got a tour of Homeboy Industries where we heard an awesome transformative story from Marvin and how he got involved with the ministry. We also heard from Crushow, who used to deal drugs in Skid Row but now leads the Skid Row Brigade to help the community. The VBS lesson was about how Jesus finds the one lost sheep because he cares for us. After dinner time with the families at the mission, we heard a message from Mr. Locke and learned more about the power of choices and the power of God who will not give us more than we can handle. Tomorrow we will all be at the URM working on projects here. There will be a special dinner outing as well. Stay tuned for more reflections from the students :)

Andy's Reflection

LA has been especially enlightening to me, strengthening my faith as well as allowing me to step out of my  tight bubble. What started as a moment where I was clueless on what to do became an unforgettable experience, especially with the kids at South Park.

The children of South Park were lovely and very energetic, spreading uncontainable energy as they frolicked around the park carefree. Watching them spread the concrete with vibrant colors made my normally stiff shoulders drop, and I partook in drawing with them.

The joy of serving younger ones at South Park is truly an inspiring experience to me and I hope to continue having fun as well as helping the boys and girls in Los Angeles.

Here are some photos from yesterday showing students packing up the tents and spending time at the Griffith Observatory. While we were there...
