Arrival and Setting up Camp at the URM

Hello parents! We arrived safely at the URM by 4:30pm today. We first stopped in Gilroy at Panera for breakfast and once again at Bravo Farms in Kettleman City. After having lunch in Tejon Ranch, it took about 45 minutes to get out of the shopping center and back onto I-5. That was quite the experience, but we got through it! Once we arrived, we unloaded our box-truck and brought up our luggage to the rooftop of the mission. Setting up the tents was a bit challenging without being able to anchor the bottom/sides, but we brought some weights to help us. We ate a delicious dinner of chicken wings with garlic fries and fruit from Comfort Wingz (started by the wife of an LAPD officer we will meet tomorrow)! After getting settled in the tents, we all met as a big group to discuss the plans for the week and share observations so far.

Tomorrow's plan is to go out into the neighborhood in Skid Row in groups to explore, meet people, and offer flowers and prayer. We are praying for great opportunities to love and serve those around us. Stay tuned for tomorrow night's update, and check out the photos from Day 1 here.

Final Day Packing Up and Driving Home

Here are some photos from yesterday showing students packing up the tents and spending time at the Griffith Observatory. While we were there...
